Inspiration & Symbolism

“Shhh…” is a conceptual work built around the idea of eroticism as a territory that has long been subjected to silence, prohibition, and moral condemnation.

The image is composed of collage fragments taken from a book dedicated to erotic art — a visual archive of works created in periods when authors often remained anonymous. Many of these images were commissioned by private collectors, yet publicly denied, concealed, or labeled as improper.

The central gesture — a finger placed before the lips — carries a double meaning: silence and invitation.
From a distance, the painting appears as a unified, almost quiet image. From close proximity, its true nature is revealed — dense, daring, and uncompromising. Encountering the details turns the viewer into a participant and raises the question of where the boundary lies, and who has the authority to define it.

“Shhh…” exists in the silence between the gaze and the decision to come closer.
